Here at Magenta, we’re fortunate to meet fabulous women regularly through the research we do. We’ve met carers who put everyone else first, brave women who do something outside their comfort zone and embrace challenges, inspirational women who are following their dreams, and lots of mums who are nurturing the next generation. On a daily basis, we, like these fabulous women, celebrate the amazing women in our lives and try to do the little things that show our support for them.

But not everyone is so lucky to have people in their lives who can support them like that. So, while we try to make a difference to women close to us every single day, today, on International Women’s Day, we want to pledge our support to a local women’s shelter as a reminder of the difficulties women continue to face. We chose local charity Solace Women’s Aid, who for more than 40 years have supported women and children in London to build safe and strong lives, free from abuse and violence. A donation as little as £14 could pay for bedding for a woman who had to flee her home at a moment’s notice.

As Gloria Steinem, feminist, journalist and activist, says "The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organisation but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.”
